Price per adult: 55€
Price per child: 10€
The instructors and organizers set the adult price on a sliding scale (35€ - 55€) in order to make the workshop accessible to more people across economic levels. Please pay the full price unless that price would prevent you from attending. If that's the case, please pay what you can on the scale.
The instructors are traveling here from the Alentejo to give the workshop.
The day will include a fresh lunch sourced from the farm on site.
"Natural Building for Everyone" will be a unique day for both adults and children to learn the ancient art of building with cob. If you are looking for a fun and educational weekend activity, look no further! There are two chances to participate: choose between day 1 (May 13) and day 2 (May 14). Register to attend on Saturday May 13 on THIS page below. To register for May 14 instead, go to this page.
At this workshop, you'll learn everything you need to know about working with cob, from mixing the perfect blend of clay, sand, and straw to crafting sustainable eco-friendly structures. Cob can be used to build structures like an outdoor pizza oven, an outdoor shower, a play structure, a decorative garden bench, and even a house! You'll learn about cob's origins and see examples from around the world. Participants will be guided by experienced instructors, Katherine Probin and Margarida Ventura, who are passionate about sharing their knowledge with you.
After learning the basics in the morning, we will have lunch from the on-site farm. After lunch, we will spend the afternoon mixing the cob and building basic structures like walls and a bench.
Best of all, our cob workshop is family-friendly. Children are welcome to join in the fun and learn alongside you. Working with cob is a hands-on and feet-on experience! Kids enjoy working the cob mixture with their feet. You'll leave feeling inspired and equipped with the skills to design and build your own cob structures.
Sign up soon! Space is limited to 12 adults each day.
There will be alternative outdoor play space for children if they need a break from the cob building.
Note that Day 2 will cover the same program as Day 1. Day 2 participants will continue building on the structures started on Day 1.
