National Foodbank Campaign

The Food Bank Against Hunger was created in Portugal in 1991. Their mission "fighting against waste and providing critical support to vulnerable communities", in partnership with solidarity institutions and volunteer workers. Food collection campaigns are "essential for the supply of food banks" because, in these campaigns, basic products are collected for families in desperate need.

Last year, 21 Food Banks helped around 360,000 people who were struggling with food shortages with the support from more than 2,400 social organizations across the country. To participate in the campaign "all you have to do is accept a bag from the Food Bank and put the requested food items in it" and hand it over to the volunteers when leaving the supermarket.

The National Foodbank Campaign will run over the weekend of the 30th Nov and 1st December. Some of our students will be volunteering at Supercor Beloura. To show your support and help this great cause, just pop in and fill a bag with essential items.
