Parent Education |
A big round of applause for the TPA Parent Education Committee and parent Patrick Walker on a very well-attended event all about our kids' digital well-being in an ever-changing world.
Patrick Walker (former BBC foreign news journalist and YouTube's first international employee) spoke to nearly 80 parents about the tech world surrounding us and our children.
He began the presentation with an entertaining (albeit slightly terrifying) look at how technology has shifted and advanced over the past fifty years, which was especially fascinating coming from the viewpoint of someone who has worked directly with different media companies over the years.
He warned about the rapidly-increasing overabundance of social media available to our children, and advised parents to educate themselves on these different platforms in order to have more productive conversations around it all with our kids.
It was a great jumping off point for this very expansive and relevant topic, and we look forward to hopefully hearing from Patrick again as he continues to delve deeper into this topic with parents and possibly even students.

And stay tuned for more engaging topics and conversations all around parenting.
