Last Saturday, at high noon on a Friday B, the TPA launched the pilot of what it hopes will become a permanent bi-weekly fixture: the TASIS Artisanal Fair. Held outdoors in the Kiss n’ Ride Lane, it dared the usually gloomy Sintra skies to rain on its parade, yet prevailed. Twenty-five vendors were divided into three sections – produce, home-made foods, and handicrafts/non-edibles – so that there was something for everyone, always something wholesome. The array of attractive and reasonably-priced goods was too diverse to itemize, but your intrepid reporter was captivated by two stands selling fresh farm eggs of different sizes in a variety of gorgeous pastel colors. The overall vibe was warm and collegial, and there was a lovely energy in the air, air made fresh and clear by recent rain; if the Fair smelled like teen spirit, child spirit and parent spirit, most of all it smelled like community spirit. TASIS community spirit for the win!
