What are kids actually doing on their smartphones?
Contrary to many adults' assumptions, they are not simply "addicted" to their screens, oblivious to the afterlife of what they post, or missing out on personal connection. They are just trying to navigate a networked world.
In this talk and interactive Q&A, Harvard University researchers and authors of 'Behind Their Screens: What Teens Are Facing (And Adults Are Missing)', Emily Weinstein and Carrie Brown will explore the complexities that adolescents face in their digital lives, bringing stories and data together for a powerful reframe of what they are up against – and what adolescents need adults to understand.
Pulling from a decade of research and insights from more than 3,500 teens, Emily and Carrie put parents' concerns on screen time and social media, alongside teens’ perspectives and experiences with technology, to help parents build connection and healthy tech habits.
