We're in to October and happily hosted our 2nd welcome coffee of the new school year!
TPA co-president Oswaldo Corrêa da Costa and Welcome Committee Rep Cindy Jernberg caught up with several new parents - Suzanne, Charles, Irina, Sasha, Mark and Natalie - in the buzzing environs of the Knights Cafe. Long-serving TPA committee members Erika Lui and Isabel Rodrigues were also spotted on the sofas!
With kids ranging from G1 to G9, the new families shared stories of relocation, morning commutes, school choices and current jobs. The conversation even meandered to hurricanes in Atlanta, Georgia, and IT infrastructure performance monitoring...
"I've had a real sense that everyone in the school truly cares - it's not just a job - they're here for the kids", said Mark Angelo, Dad of a First Grader. Mark commented that when moving to a new school, we trust our children to people we don't know, but in their first few days he's been impressed with the level of care, and communication, from his daughter's teachers.
Don't forget to sign up to the TASIS parent community site to connect with other parents and stay up-to-date on news and upcoming events.
We're on the look-out for another content writer to help publish regular news (like this!) and connect parents on topics related to business networking, careers, hobbies and local services - log in to message Shruti Jha, post a comment below, or email tpaoc@tasisportugal.org if you're interested.
The next welcome coffee will be in November, with plenty of other TPA activities and parent meet-ups in the meantime!
